EPA Region IX Laboratory

Richmond, California

This 50,000 sq. ft. project involved the retrofit of individual fume hoods, boiler replacements and the addition of a co-generation system. The building contains primarily laboratory and office space for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The constant volume lab fume hood system was changed to a manifolded VAV system. A single boiler serving the facility was replaced with two high-efficiency boilers. Finally, a cogeneration unit was implemented, utilizing heat recovery for space and domestic hot water heating.
